Reaching Our Community with the Gospel

Reaching Our Community with the Gospel of Christ

Joyfully Inviting Every Person to Experience a Transformed Life in Christ

That’s our mission. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it? Who wouldn’t want to experience a transformed life? Our job is not only to invite but to do so with joy—because transformation is real for us.

If we live out our values, we will joyfully invite everyone to join us.

Our Core Values

So far, we have explored these foundational values of our church:

  1. Vibrant Worship & Prayer
  2. Rooted in the Word of God
  3. Walking in Step with the Holy Spirit
  4. Loving People Through Authentic Relationships

And today, we focus on our final value:

5. Reaching Our Community with the Gospel of Christ

This value is deeply rooted in some of Jesus’ last words to His disciples:

Matthew 28:18-20
Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Go, make disciples, baptize, teach to obey—that’s our mission!

Our Church’s Statement on This Value:

We believe that as followers of Jesus Christ, we are called to intentionally live as His ambassadors, relying fully on the Holy Spirit’s empowerment to be witnesses of the good news—salvation through Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection.

When we live out this value, our church will be characterized by:
✅ Loving people with God’s heart
✅ Boldly sharing the good news of Jesus Christ
✅ Reflecting the light of Jesus wherever we go
✅ Being ambassadors for Christ
✅ Speaking words full of grace, seasoned with salt

I. We Are Called to Be Ambassadors

2 Corinthians 5:20
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God.

An ambassador does not represent their own will, but the will of their ruler. In the same way, we are called to carry out the work of our King, Jesus.

II. We Are Called to Speak

2 Timothy 4:5
But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.

What is the work of an evangelist? Simply put, sharing the good news of Jesus.

Ephesians 6:19-20
Pray also for me, that whenever I speak, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.

Paul also teaches us in Colossians to be seasoned with salt, while Matthew tells us to be salt and light. Isaiah even describes the feet of one who brings the good news as beautiful.

But what happens if we don’t tell people about Jesus?
Even atheist Penn Jillette (from Penn & Teller) once stated:

“How much do you have to hate someone to believe that everlasting life is possible and not tell them about it?”

III. We Are Not to Be Ashamed

2 Timothy 1:7-8
For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love, and self-discipline. 8 So do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord or of me his prisoner. Rather, join with me in suffering for the gospel, by the power of God.

Our testimony is our personal story of what God has done in our lives. It is your faith story.

IV. We Are a Link

1 Peter 4:10
Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

Each of us is a link in the chain that stewards God’s grace.

How can we be that link?

Genesis 12:2-3
“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”

We bless others when we become a link in God’s mission.

How Do We B.L.E.S.S. Others?

Begin with prayer!
Listen!
Eat (Share meals together)!
Serve others!
Share the good news!

Conclusion

Our mission is clear: we are called to go, make disciples, baptize, and teach—to reach our community with the Gospel of Christ.

So let’s joyfully invite everyone to experience a transformed life in Christ!
